The account is owned by Seth Phillips, a former marketing major from a small town in Texas who moved to New York in search of a place to make his dreams come true. The DudeWithSign movement involves a picture of Seth holding a cardboard with a handwritten message to which many people can relate. He partners with Elliot Tebele, the founder of Jerry Media, where Seth got his first job after moving to New York City.
The DudeWithSign Instagram account made numbers reaching over 4 million followers in just four months of being created in 2019. DudeWithSign entry into the NFT space was a collaboration with FuckJerry and Anon A. Mister named “WTF is an NFT?”. It includes iconic photos of DudeWithSign holding his famous placard with the message “WTF is an NFT” in various forms. The drop launched on the 23rd of April 2021 on the dudewithsign website with 50 winning bidders and four rewards tiers.
