The first-ever ballet NFTs are shaking the crypto space. The Bonhamas auction house announced selling the collection of 3-piece video tokens starring London's Royal Ballet principal dancer Natalia Osipova. Two are from the classic “Giselle,” while the third is from “Left behind,” a contemporary dance she has performed with her partner Jason Kittelberger. The collection called "Natalia Osipova: Triptych" is running now as part of the Bonhamas “Encore! Modern Art on Stage” auction, with bidding open from Monday until Dec. 10.

Nima Sagharchi, Bonhams head of digital art, has shed some light on the artworks. “Performing artists up till now have had no way to sell ownership in their performances,” he said. “NFTs afford them that opportunity.” Another goal behind these NFTs is to set up a ballet company and introduce more ballet dancers to NFT technology and its opportunities.

“I really hope that we can create an art platform because dance is always left behind,” Osipova, who has most recently danced in “Giselle” at London’s Royal Opera House, told in an interview.

The lots are seen going under the hammer starting from about USD $10K to USD 50-60K Successful buyers will have a full license of the works.  The NFTs are being offered alongside paintings, prints, manuscripts, and costume designs featuring the high arts.
