In memory of Flaco, the Eurasian eagle-owl who escaped his long-time enclosure at Central Park Zoo in New York City after someone cut the protective netting in February 2023. Flaco took up residence in and around Central Park, and learned how to be a strong flier and fierce hunter in a matter of months despite his life in captivity. He enjoyed every minute of his freedom. He inspired a lot of people, birders, and the children of New York alike. His life and untimely death brought forward many concerns, such as the use of rodenticides and the urgent need for bird-friendly windows in NYC.
50% of the proceeds from Star Meowl will be donated to Wild Bird Fund, a nonprofit that rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned wildlife and releases them back to the wilds of NYC
