Images by photographer Janne Zaviasky from the Patagonian Islands Life series are now available on NFT for collectors and nature lovers.

The photographic project e, Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, depicts the islands of Birds and Wolves in Ushuaia located in the Beagle Channel, which is a navigable “arm” of navigable sea with 240km in length and its shortest stretch with 5km. The Channel was named in honor of the British ship HMS Beagle that took part in two voyages in this region in the early 19th century. On one of these trips, he transported Charles Darwin and Robert Fitzroy (name given to one of the most incredible massifs in Patagonia).

The images depict sea lions living in harmony with the local birds. Marine mammals, sea lions are animals that are extremely adaptable to different temperatures. They usually feed on several species of fish, which are easily hunted, due to the fact that they have great diving skills, as they have 4 limbs that turn into fins, and can reach depths of up to 100m.

Tierra del Fuego has been inhabited by these animals since the time of the first natives, with two species found on Isla dos Lobos, within the Beagle Channel. They can be seen in large numbers by humans who roam the place, as they live in a colony.

We also observed colonies of imperial cormorants, easily mistaken for penguins, these animals are actually cormorants, which, unlike the first winged birds, have the ability to fly. They have a black and white print and can adapt to the most diverse climates on the planet, thus being a bird present in both hemispheres.

In the City of the End of the World, they usually stay in two places. One of them is Ilha dos Lobos, where you can stay close to sea lions, as they are not at risk of being attacked. The other place is in the emblematic Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, a region where it is still possible to find more species of this bird.

The photographic series was nominated in the Wildlife category at FAPA - FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY

AWARDS and the International Color Awards 2022.
