Fashion enthusiasts and tech lovers! Get ready to own a one-of-a-kind piece designed by an algorithm, crafted from luxurious materials, and accompanied by a digital twin and virtual avatar.
Art and fashion company mmERCH has unveiled its upcoming Genesis hoodies NFT collection, which blurs the lines between physical and digital fashion.
This drop consists of 960 NFTs, each paired with their one-of-one physical twin and their virtual avatar. Eight hundred sixty of these hoodies are French terry, while the remaining 100 are 100% cashmere. Each piece features one of 48 original characters crafted by the legendary comic book artist Gilbert Hernandez (of Love & Rockets fame).
Interestingly, while the 960 NFTs are unique, some have rarer traits than others. For instance, the single trait (1T) or the Monochrome are the rarest (there is only one of each). There is also the "Lefty" and "Rightie —" which have different designs than the rest of the hoodie.
There's more! The hoodies come with NFC chips that could earn you even more in the future. Wear your hoodie to certain places and events, and you might be rewarded with additional NFTs.
These NFTs will be minted on mmERCH's dedicated website, and the collection will be available for presale and public sale.
The presale kicks off on April 16th, with the public sale following on April 17th.
If you participate in the presale, you'll initially see a black-and-white image of your NFT. This will show your character wearing the hoodie, along with details like material, style, and the number of unique traits on your hoodie. The full-color design and specific trait names will be revealed later.
As a bonus for minting during the presale, you'll receive a receipt token created by artist Toad Swiback aka Die With the Most Likes. (This is an artwork limited this year (there will be a different artist for next year).
During this presale, there will be guaranteed allowlist for supporters of mmERCH, followed by a first come first serve mint for selected NFT communities including CryptoPunks, Chromie Squiggles, Beeple Everydays — The 2020 Collection, beef brothko, Tom Sachs: Rocket Factory — Rockets, Claire Silver's corpo | real, Auntieverse, Max Pain and Frens, Dopamine Machines, and CryptoDickButts.
After the presale, the artwork is available to the general public. Once the public sale begins, all mints reveal the full-color design of your hoodie.
Upon claiming your physical hoodie, you'll receive another copy of the bonus receipt token (same artwork as before). The claim window for physical hoodies opens on April 22nd and remains open until the next mmERCH drop (estimated Q3 2024). Shipping for the physical hoodie is free, but you will cover gas fees. Once you claim your physical hoodie, the artwork associated with your NFT will be fully colored in.
Completing your artwork will unlock access to a virtual avatar dressed in your unique hoodie. You can use this avatar in metaverses like OnCyber and Mona.
The minting price will be around 15-18 ETH, depending on market prices on launch day. The price you pay to mint the hoodie includes the physical hoodie itself. While you can pay with a credit card, you need an ETH wallet to mint.
