In recent days, more and more top-tier racing events and teams burst into the NFT realm. One of the latest F1 teams to embrace the power of non-fungible tokens is Mercedes-AMG Petronas. To realize the web3 initiative, Mercedes has partnered with the FTX US marketplace and the prominent digital artist Mad Dog Jones.
The auctioning of the first 3 NFTs in the series of 11 tokens in total is timed to the Miami Grand Prix. The three colorful tokens dubbed Forever Dream - LH44, Sky Rising - GR63, and The intersection (of dreams and reality) featuring Mercedes-AMG Petronas cars were diligently hand-crafted by Mad Dog Jones.
The NFTs will be auctioned off at the FTX US platform, starting on May 6th. According to Richard Sanders, the Commercial Director of the Mercedes F1 team, this NFT initiative is aimed to offer “new and innovative” ways to engage and reward racing fans. The series will feature 3 exclusive, masterly processed art pieces, with each one bundled with a physical item. While two tokens are bundled with Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1TM rear wings, the third NFT comes backed with a full-size 2022 Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1TM car, wrapped in the NFT artwork. Thus, lucky winners will own both digital and physical pieces of motorsport history.
According to the official website, "the auctions for Forever Dream and Sky Rising close on Friday, May 13th at 6:00 pm EST, with the auction of The intersection (of dreams and reality) closing on Friday, May 20th at 6:00 pm EST."
But that's not all. In addition to the 1:1 NFT auction, F1 fans will be rewarded with the Race collection of NFT Ticket Stubs, featuring the remastered versions of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1TM ticket.
Most races will have 2,500 Ticket Stubs, and only some, including the Miami Grand Prix, will offer 1,000 rare editions, created in collaboration with renowned artists.
Even more exciting is that those Ticket Subs will be free to mint via the FTX marketplace. So, while the racing season is in full swing with four races already left behind, there will be a randomized mint, allowing fans to claim NFTs from past events. The drop will run on May 6th at 10:00 am EST and will include the rare edition Miami Ticket Stubs by Mad Dog Jones.
The Ticket Stubs are not just JPEGs but are also backed up with utilities, including early-access to further collections and physical benefits.
It's worth noting, that in addition to entertaining the Mercedes F1 fans, the auction bears a charitable goal. Thus, the proceeds will go to Ignite – a joint project by Mercedes-AMG Petronas and Mission44, which stands for inclusion in Formula 1.
