This work originates from a direct intervention on Super 8 film, where abstract drawing is inscribed onto the emulsion itself. The filmic surface bears traces of its previous life, with residual emulsion, scratches, and material degradation
Through digitization and conversion into a GIF, the piece undergoes a shift in ontology: from a fragile, time-bound analog artifact to a looped, infinitely reproducible digital object. This translation does not erase its material condition but rather amplifies it.
It resists a linear narrative of technological progress, instead proposing a feedback loop between past and present—where decay, gesture, and material memory are re-inscribed into systems of circulation.
The piece inhabits an hybrid object that collapses distinctions between analog and digital.
