Around a decade ago, Art Blocks founder and CEO Erick ‘Snowfro’ Calderon began an art exploration of 3D printing. He was creating and painting cubes, assembling them to form a heart shape, and then рlacing them in public places.
Today, Calderon is taking his affectionate generative artistic style to the next level with his new NFT series in collaboration with Jordan Lyall, founder of the NFT platform Prohibition.
Dubbed ‘Heart + Craft,’ the collection portrays a blocky heart made up of 3D-generated cubes of varying complexities and colors. It’s generated at the time of minting by a blockchain algorithm developed by Calderon and Lyall. Each NFT, priced at 0.01 ETH and minted on Arbitrum, comes with DIY instructions for holders to create a physical art piece, thus making the NFT series a bridge for digital and real-world creativity. The step-by-step process will include 3D printing, painting, and gluing the blocks together to make a physical block heart.
Later on, the creators behind the collection will allow community members to purchase a kit housing a complete set of 3D-printed blocks and other materials, waiting to be assembled by the buyer. There will also be a collector’s edition available, hand-made by a skilled artisan and signed by Snowfro.
The hallmark of the collection is its type of mint, dubbed ‘inclusive edition’. Its difference from the open edition mint lies in no set timeframe for the mint but with the right to cut it off at some point. In addition, it has a high supply and a low price. The ‘inclusive edition’ was invented by the creators to resist FOMO, providing everyone who wants to participate in this art project with an opportunity to do so.
