Until now, @Lushsux has exclusively been held in the private collections of contemporary art titans like Banksy and Takashi Murakami. But we all know the real art isn't in his murals, paintings, or sculptures.
For Lushsux, his true masterpiece is his Instagram account.
In the modern era, Instagram is the only canvas that counts. And after nearly two decades of operation, @Lushsux is finally up for sale.
For their inaugural drop, DRP is proud to present Lushsux: The Instagram Collection. This project with one of Australia’s biggest graffiti artists is grounded in Lush’s meticulous Instagram catalog, functioning as a documentary of his career for the last 15 years.
With works held by Banksy and Murakami, in addition to renowned crypto-native collectors (including 888, 33, and Pranksy), the Instagram collection delivers his performance’s punchline: full command and gamification of the social media platform’s algorithm as an artwork within itself.
All 4444 individual posts in the collection have been transformed into NFTs, complete with variable metrics and corresponding rarity.
DRP and LushSux have plans to continue this meta-commentary on collectible digital assets by selling the entire Instagram account (with over 900K followers and 1.2B likes) with a New York auction house in Q1 2022, as well as ongoing collaboration for the platform’s community.
