'cicloviriditerra' created during my residency at Sincretismo Digital Residency by Wait & Hope Foundation. This piece is a visual tapestry that weaves together Mexico's ancient past, colonial histories, and living modern cultural tradition into one cycle of life.
The artwork title is built around three words. Ciclo, Viriditas, and Tierra.
Ciclo is a cycle of life, decay, and return. Viriditas as a symbol for the divine energy in plants, flowers, and nature. Just like a spiritual flourishing that gives a mystical and sacred feeling. And, Tierra, as the earth, the origin and the memory of soil and ancestors.
'cicloviriditerra' is a work born from the meeting of two lands, Indonesia and Mexico. Through Batuan Painting style approach to the dynamism & symbolism of Mexican murals, blended through the core of Mexico as a surreal mecca.
This piece is my offering to Mexico:
a reflection of what I learned, witnessed, and felt during the residency.
