“Carrying the Dreams”, was born in Medellín, Colombia, during an artistic and cultural immersion through One Love Art DAO & Wait & Hope Foundation, as part of the “Eternal Spring” residency.
Inspired by the Feria de las Flores and the Silleteros, symbols of work, tradition, resistance, and transformation, the work connects Colombian culture with the identity of Jonathan Melo, a Brazilian artist from Rio de Janeiro whose practice moves between design, graffiti, and urban art, often portraying Black and working-class characters with strength and empowerment.
The central character carries a large floral burden on his shoulders. He carries more than flowers: he carries his dreams. Each flower represents a dream some already blooming, others needing care, and some still seeds.
His forward gaze expresses determination and hope: what was planted yesterday can bloom tomorrow.
The work speaks of dreaming, resisting, moving forward, belonging, and believe.
