Skechers to Open a 5K Square Feet Store in Decentraland

Skechers is rightfully considered as the 3rd-largest sneakers brand after Nike and adidas. While the competitors entered the Web3 long ago, Skechers is catching up with them in leaps and bounds. Thus, the trendy footwear manufacturer has announced it's leasing a 5,000-square-feet space in Decentraland's Fashion District.

According to Michael Greenberg, the president of Skechers, this will provide Skechers sneakerheads with new “immersive” shopping experiences. In a word, it’s going to be an experiential store in the virtual land.

To enter the top four metaverse platforms, namely Decentraland, the company had previously filed for a variety of Web3 applications, including digitalization of the Skechers trademark, “downloadable virtual goods,” and “downloadable computer software for interactive games.”

The Decentraland's Fashion District and its main Shopping street boast the highest concentration of global luxury brands per square foot of VR space. From now, Skechers joins the luxury spaces with Gucci, Prada, Ralph Lauren, and others in Decentraland’s neighborhood.

Thus, the announcement on leasing is not backed up by colorful descriptions of the Skecher's Decentraland endeavor. Neither Greenberg nor any other Skechers executive voice details about the VR store's launch or what kind of services it will offer. But even the fact of leasing itself pushes Skechers to the frontline of the metaverse, while other brands only apply for Web3 solutions but do nothing with the new opportunities.

Let's wait and see how Skechers gains momentum in the digital realm. It's going to be awesome, eh?
