The South Korean techno giant Samsung has teamed up with video and entertainment blockchain Theta Network to airdrop complimentary NFTs to the brand's latest gadgets owners. Free tokens will be given away as a reward to the customers who pre-ordered Galaxy S22 smartphones or the Samsung Tablets S8.
Pre-orders started on February 9, while the new-line devices will be available for purchase on February 25. It’s worth noting that only South Korean buyers will be lucky enough to claim their NFTs on the Theta Network.
Samsung clients will receive their free tokens by registering on ThetaDrop, Theta network’s NFT marketplace. To do that, they will have to specify the unique verification code through their “Samsung Members” app. Moreover, it became known that those who pre-ordered Galaxy S22 and Tablet S8 would receive their tokens in closed NFT containers alongside the new devices.

Samsung has chosen Theta Labs for these commemorative non-fungible tokens not in vain, primarily, due to sonic transaction speed and low gas fees provided by Theta Labs. One more thing that influenced Samsung’s choice is that the ThetaDrop is powered by the Theta protocol developed exclusively for media and entertainment. Based on the proof-of-stake (POS) model, the Theta protocol requires less electricity and resources, which makes it a more eco-friendly solution.
Samsung is currently focused on building a loyal community, so it comes up with different ways to achieve this goal. Giving away free tokens is one of the options.
“We plan to provide ongoing membership benefits and privileges to Galaxy customers who own a Samsung Theta commemorative NFT and look forward to building a long-term community among members,” Theta Labs CEO and co-founder Mitch Liu explained.
