Chris: Hi there! Please introduce yourself.
Jay: Jonathan. Feel free to call me Jay for the interview. I am the creator of Painteye. I have 5 years of experience in graphic and web design.
Chris: You are selling real artwork as an NFT? How did you collaborate with the artist and what inspired you to develop this NFT?
Jay: The artist’s son, Meelo, is on our team. The artist had denied me to disclose his full name, but his first name is Bijan. Meelo has been on my team since 2018 and we have been close friends since. For years, we wanted to work on meaningful projects that married our passion for art and programming. When we first heard of NFTs we did an extensive amount of research and fell in love with the concept.
We began minting NFTs shortly after but felt that we weren’t utilizing the full potential of our NFTs. Through one of our many conversations, Meelo had randomly mentioned that his father was a well known local artist in his home country Iran. Curious, I asked Meelo to show the team his father Bijan’s artwork. We were blown away by what we saw. We were inspired by his mystic themed oil paintings and felt that we could help mint and promote his work through our NFT platform. And after many hours of negotiations of lame name suggestions, Fantasia’s Gallery was created.
Chris: Moreover, you are currently selling only 3 artworks. How many such NFTs do you plan to release in all?
Jay: At the time of this interview, we currently have 5 NFTs under the Fantasia’s Gallery collection. Although his pieces are incredible, Bijan was strict on how many of his pieces we could promote. He has given us permission to turn 40 of his art pieces into NFTs, with only one copy of each. We will be adding 3-5 pieces of his art to our collection weekly until we reach that limit. Chris: Furthermore, what will be the price for 1 NFT. Do you plan to have an auction on them?
Jay: Bijan’s individual pieces of art have sold upwards to $10,000. Although we have no intention of pricing our NFTs that high, we believe in the quality of his art so we will have all NFTs for Fantasia's Gallery on auction. The starting auction price for each NFT will be 0.03 ETH
Chris: Additionally, what else can the investor do with their NFTs?
Jay: Once bought, the NFT will belong to the investor and the investor and the investor only. The investor can do with the NFT as he pleases. Back when we were researching NFTs, we saw that there were many NFT investors who bought NFTs for the purpose of reselling them at a higher price. Some investors take it a step further and turn their owned NFTs into merchandise for sale. As the owner of the NFT, the investor will have the right to sell it, give it away for charity, print it for personal use, or whatever they please.
Chris: Do you plan to have more collaborations with different artists to increase your range of product offerings?
Jay: Of course! We are willing to negotiate with any and all artists who are serious about having their artwork promoted. They can reach out to us on our Twitter or they can search “Painteye '' on Opensea and message us there.
Chris: What is the buying process for Painteye NFTs?
Jay: You can purchase the NFTs via ETH. Simply go to Opensea, search for our account “Painteye”, visit one of our collections, and then make an offer for any NFT that you would like.
Chris: Finally, what are your plans for the future of Painteye NFT?
Jay: In the future, we intend to raise NFTs for charitable events, have giveaways, launch an NFT artist affiliate program and open our own augmented reality NFT art studio (more info on that will be released on our Twitter at a later time).
