Per Kaput from HandsUpNFT, 'a PFP project is an NFT Collection where Buyers can use their token as a Profile Picture for Social Media'

In this episode of Creator's Interview, we are joined by Kaput, a Co-Founder and Lead Artist of HandsUpNFT.

Kaput is a globally recognized mixed media artist from Vancouver, British Columbia currently living in Australia who’s best known for his graffiti works, found in galleries around the world. Alongside his brother Cameo, Kaput is one of three HandsUpNFT founders and the creative force behind drawing the project’s artwork on paper before Cameo brings it to life in Illustrator.

Chris: HandsUpNFT’s are designed by you and gain immediate attention. What is yur story?

Kaput: Thanks man! My brother Cameo and I became aware of NFTs through our partner who got involved with Cryptovoxels a while back. He was putting graffiti onto buildings and telling us how fun the space was. We’ve both had our graffiti featured in video games but it was really cool to see people interacting with it in the metaverse. After that we were hooked.

Chris: There is no doubt about the fact that the NFT’s are quirky and eye-catching. However, what exactly is a pfp project? Please explain in simple terms.

Kaput: Basically, a PFP project is an NFT collection where buyers can use their token as a profile picture for social media. Some examples include Cryptopunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club. With HandsUpNFT, we give people the option to use the full NFT or zoom in on their kooky faces.

Chris: It is unrelated but raises my curiosity, what inspired the idea of the Hands Up NFT? How many such tokens are going to be up for sale?

Kaput: The concept behind HandsUpNFT was to bring a classic “throw your hands in the air like you just don’t care” vibe to a generative project. We also wanted to go a little further than the average collection, so we added two components to each NFT. There’s our characters we call “Fanatics” and the accessory between their hands called “Idols”. In total, we have over 200 Idols ranging from spray cans, to our favourite furry friends, foods, and just about everything under the sun that people can relate to.

Mint count will be 3333 to create scarcity for holders and allow us to add follow-up collections as our community grows, similar to Gutter Cat Gang.

Chris: Similarly, what would be the price of each NFT? Do you have a set date for the first sale yet? How much would be gas fees?

Kaput: HandsUpNFT will mint for 0.05 during our public sale, but Discord members and select projects will have access to our presale at a slightly lower cost.

Chris: Following from the previous question, what is the minimum or maximum number of NFTs one has to mint? Is there any minimum number of tokens required to be a part of the DAO?

Kaput: Minting will be limited to three tokens per wallet, and every holder will have the ability to vote in our community art incubator. This will involve decisions on where treasury funds are spent, the charities that we work with and a variety of other community-driven initiatives aimed at bolstering value for holders.

Chris: You have everything planned for the future, merchandising, charity, metaverse integration, and gaming. Please highlight some aspects of each one of the plans so that your investors know what should they expect from HandsUpNFT.

Kaput: Upon sellout, we will auction off the collection’s final NFT as a 1/1 custom and match up to 10 ETH for the charity of our community’s choosing. After that, we plan to establish our own nonprofit and continue giving back in meaningful ways. Additionally, we understand the importance of being able to provide trustworthy resources for up-and-coming artists new to the space, so we aim to provide mentoring resources within our server.

As far as merchandise goes, two of us spent a good portion of our lives in the screen printing industry and developed hundreds of t-shirt designs—so we can’t wait to get going on some limited edition HandsUpNFT merch for the community!

And the metaverse is a must. As mentioned before, one of our founders has been active in the Cryptovoxels ecosystem for quite some time. This led to us eying more project-focused platforms like The Sandbox where we own land. I can also hint that although we’re still early in the process, we’ve already begun meeting with developers and voxel artists specializing in the creation of assets. So whether its avatars, HandsUpNFT community gathering parcels or full-out gameplay—we’ll be there!

Chris: Finally, how does one access the latest updates on HandsUpNFT? How can your potential investors be the first to know about your drops and plans?

Kaput: Join the Discord! We just got things up and running and would love for everyone to pop in and let us know what you think of the project, ask any questions you might have and learn more about us!
