An experimental audio NFT: users can upload anything from Spoken word, a Rap, a Song, a Poem, or just some thoughts they like to Express

Check out the interview with Andras Caron — a former CMO of Deribit Exchange who is currently building an experimental audio NFT project called CTR10000

Chris: The concept of CTR10000 is legit. However, what is the reason behind providing such an antique reel-to-reel recorder look to your NFT?

Caron: Reel 2 Reel tape recorders and magnetic tape were the only media for recording between 1940s to mid 80s and even now you can still find them in many recording studios. So they are antique or vintage equipment. The reason they were used is that it provides the apex of audio fidelity. To most producers and audiophiles nothing comes close to the analog warmth that of tracks recorded with Magnetic Tape Recorders.

The reason we used them is that they look awesome and are sort of like symbols of an era where some of the best albums ever where produced and recorded.

Chris: So, the audio could be just about anything under the sun. Why then limit it to just 10000 NFTs?

Caron: We can't control what users will upload. But we hope that they upload acapella, vocals without support sounds. This can be anything from spoken word, a rap, a song, a poem, or just some thoughts you like to express. These vocals can easily be used by producers in tracks. The limit of 10000 is a good question. I think 10k is already quite a lot. In our project minting is free but you can only mint if users add a recording and you have to pay gas for every mint. Although our contract is optimized for gas reduction it’s still money.

Chris: How many of these NFTs would go for the first sale? When can the users mint their NFTs?

Caron: Minting is free, so there won’t be a sale. But users have to add or record a piece of audio via our dapp. Users can start minting the 9th of Jan at ctr10000

Chris: On a similar note, what would be the benefits accompanying membership to the CTR10000 community?

Caron: CTR10000 is a very humble and experimental project, we are honest about our intentions. This I think is rare by itself. We hope to attract users that appreciate the experiment and not quick flippers.

Additionally, If users add interesting stories, and samples to their NFTs than only a few good ones will provide memetic value for the entire collection. Also, If only one sample is used in a good track it will provide enormous value for the whole collection. And we already have a few great producers with following agreed to upload some of their work use the recordings in their productions.

Chris: How can one pick between the CTR10000 NFTs? How would they choose the audio they like?

Caron: You can simply click a video and listen to the audio on our open sea colection. It will be very interesting to watch whether CTR10000 NFTs will valued based on their level of scarcity or uniqueness of the recording or both.  We obviously hope people record cool, funny, exciting and unexpected things.

Chris: Furthermore, when can the user begin to create their own NFT? How would they be able to create them?

Caron: You simply go to ctr10000 > connect wallet > Recording/Importing UI shows up and you can record via our UI or upload a file from your computer. When you recorded or uploaded your audio you will be asked to choose licensing format

Upload as public domain cc0 or retain the rights to your underlying recording.

After you made your choice you click save and your NFT is generated and appears in your wallet.

Chris: Finally, the sale date is nearing, what is the minting price for each NFT? How much are the gas fees?

Caron: Gasfees are depending on the gasmarket and amount of activity on the network and the price = free.
