Good afternoon, dear NFT addicts! In this interview, we are talking to Anna Czere-Toth (aka. Annie & @punk4711) — a Co-Founder / Lead Creative Thinker of Annie's Bookshop NFT. Annie is a book lover, a community builder and a proud mother.
Chris: Annie’s Bookshop NFT is the world’s first readable NFT bookshop. What inspired you to develop book NFTs?
Anna: We felt like writers were completely missing from the NFT space, so we wanted to create a place for them to show their work and celebrate their talent. Also, being book lovers ourselves we wanted to create a cool & enjoyable reading experience on the blockchain. Furthermore we also recognise that, in the decentralised, tech-driven modern world, the power of storytelling is more relevant than ever. We truly believe that 2022 will be the year of literature NFTs!
That’s why we created the world's first blockchain-generated, readable NFT book collection. Annie's Bookshop features generative NFT books written by 5 talented writers across the horror, sci-fi, romance, crime, and post-apocalyptic genres. No fewer than 1,984 books will be minted in each genre, resulting in a total of 9,920 unique generative NFT books for you to add to your collection!
Chris: Interesting, so you have 5 writers who are developing the NFTs across the different genres. Would you like to disclose the name of the writers?
Anna: We are truly grateful for the opportunity to work with 5 talented writers from across the globe.
- Shawn Whitney - Sci Fi writer / Proofreader. Shawn is an award-winning screenwriter and has ghost-written over a dozen novels and novellas.
- Bailey Bridgewater - Crime writer. Bailey is a professional grant writer and editor who travels around the United States with her senior dog.
- Patrick Garrett - Post-Apocalyptic writer - Writer of The Eighth Continent gambook series, English teacher, video game writer, fiction editor.
- Mary E. Farnstrom - Horror writer. As a horror aficionado, Mary is a proud partner at Puzzle Box Horror and runs her own brand, Macabre Mary.
- Alicia Suastika - Romance writer. A proud Balinese born in New York. She's a short-story writer and strategy consultant with an accounting background.
Writers were given complete freedom in every part of the writing process.
As an appreciation for their profound involvement in the project, each writer will get 3% royalties from the minting revenue in their respective works.
Chris: Furthermore, when is the Annie’s Bookshop NFT public sale? How can one buy an NFT from Annie’s Bookshop?
Anna: The Annie’s Bookshop NFT public sale is planned to happen on February 28th, 2022. You can mint books by going to our website and clicking on the ‘Connect to Metamask’ button at the top right hand corner. You will need a MetaMask wallet to mint a book.
Chris: What would be the cost of one NFT? How much will be needed to be paid as gas fees?
Anna: The cost of minting a book will be .08 ETH plus the 'gas' fee to use the Ethereum network. Gas fee is expected to be around .01 ETH. You’ll be able to claim 20 books maximum with a single transaction and Gas will be flat, any amount of books you claim.
Chris: Additionally, do you also have some rare books in the collection of NFTs? Do you have a rarity chart to share with the readers?
Anna: Absolutely! We have some pretty cool rarities such as cover designs, bookmark types, page designs, fonts, backgrounds, materials and so on! And of course, each of the 9,920 books will have a completely unique title and story!

Chris: What are your plans with the sale proceeds?
Anna: 3% of proceeds of each minted NFT will be donated by us to organisations that champion literacy education and the preservation of Mother Earth - Room to Read and Offsetra. Each writer will get 3% royalties from the minting revenue.
Secondary sales will incur a 5% royalty fee paid back to Annie’s Bookshop. This sum will be invested back into the project and used to fund the continuous development of the project.
Chris: In the end, how does your roadmap chart out for the next 6 months of Annie’s Bookshop NFT?
Anna: We have some pretty unique and cool things on the roadmap:
As we mentioned, we’re planning to partner with charities to donate 3% of initial sales from the get go. For every 1,000 initial mints, we'll select 10 owners at random and send a physical copy of their book worldwide.
We’re also planning to publish sequels for all mints, and release new genres from new talents to welcome more writers into the NFT world. We’ll have some cool airdrops and merch launch of course.
