Bob: My name is Afro Bob, one of the founders at Afro Apes. I am a Tech enthusiast passionate in developing innovative and value-added products/services based on disruptive web and mobile technologies. I currently co-own a business intelligence platform here in Nigeria, which provides valuable knowledge and insight into the African Startup Ecosystem.
Chris: Afro Apes are representing the African community on the metaverse. Why did you pick the specific representation for your NFT artwork?
Bob: Context is very important and in the Metaverse context, Apes represent a movement (an energetic force) that is evolving from its primitive state – somewhat mimicking the theory of evolution. The Metaverse/NFT space is very much in its early phase, projects like BAYC or Hapebeast have seen massive interests in the space and are somewhat positioning themselves with Lifestyle and Fashionable plays albeit with western representations. Afro Apes seek to bring the rich African cultural representation to the Metaverse.
Chris: The Afro Apes NFTs are equipped with mystical features and powers. What can the users do with their NFTs?
Bob: Afro Apes – The Origin NFT holders enjoy lots of benefits. Some of them range from exclusive drops, to future stakes in our metaverse plays & tech products. There are lots of possibilities for our holders and due to the limited nature of the items, our team are able to deliver a good experience to our holders.
Chris: What are the key features of the Afro Apes? Which ones of them are rare?
The Afro Apes are inspired by various tribes in Africa and they are unique to each Tribe that is represented by cultural attire and accessories. Because of this uniqueness, the entire 160 NFT art featured in the Origin Collection is rare - especially as this is Afro Apes Genesis collection.
Chris: In the same way, how have you priced the tokens? Are some more expensive than the others?
Bob: On February 12th, we launched our Presale for 50 “AfroListed” (WL) members who were allowed to mint 1 Afro Ape per individual/wallet. The price for the 50 Afro Apes that were minted at that time were at a rate of 0.2Eth. In the upcoming Public (English) Auction this Saturday, February 26th, 100 Afro Apes will be bided on at a price starting at 0.4Eth.
Chris: More importantly, what is your plans on using the sale proceeds? Do you plan to share the royalties with your investors?
Bob: Proceeds from the sale will go towards compensating the team, donating to a charity in Africa and adding to our community wallet to further build the project. As part of our roadmap, we indicate the proceeds will also be deployed towards impactful creative causes as well as strategic acquisitions.
Chris: The minting process has already begun. How can one buy an Afro Apes token?
Bob: Presale has indeed successfully concluded and there are now 2 ways to buy an Afro Apes token. The first is by participating in the upcoming Public Auction and being the highest bidder at the end of a 5-day period and the second is by purchasing an Afro Ape in the secondary market right away. The floor price of our collection on Opensea is currently 1.5Eth.
Chris: The Afro Apes are led by a strong team. How are the members organized to contribute towards Afro Apes NFT?
Bob: The team is led by 3 creative minds who are well experienced in various fields. Derrick, the. Artist is a 3D Generalist with years of experience; The Warrior is also a 3D Generalist who’s latest obsession is tinkering with the metaverse; Afro Bob is a tech enthusiast with decades of experience across various fields like Software Engineering, Product Design, Blockchain and more.
Chris: Before closing, please help us understand your roadmap for the next two quarters.
Bob: In the next 2 quarters, Afro Apes will focus on launching the Warrior collection, securing digital asset acquisitions, making strategic partnerships as well as launching our Afro Apes story animation.
